Saving water tips
Being more efficient with water will lower your bills, help the environment and help our storage levels - Saving water
The coastal towns of Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek are supplied with drinking water from the Barham River in the southern Otway Ranges.
A pumping station at the river transfers water to the nearby Apollo Bay basin, before continuing on to the Marengo basin. From here, water is transferred via a pipeline to a nearby treatment plant, where it is filtered and disinfected.
Note: The Marengo Basin is being drawn down until it is empty, to allow planned maintenance works to be carried out from March 2025.

What is Barwon Water doing to support the region’s water supply?
Barwon Water will start carting water to Apollo Bay on Tuesday 20 May. This water will come from the Forrest and Lorne treated water storages.
Residents don’t need to do anything to access this water, it will be added to the drinking water storages in Marengo and come through your taps as normal.
