Fixing leaks as quick as we can

Dry conditions are here, so it’s more important than ever that we save every drop we can. That’s why we’re looking to make our response to leaks quicker.

We rate water leaks by priority. P1 and P2 leaks are our highest priority leaks that we address with urgency. Priority 3 or low volume leaks have no environmental or property damage, but they are still important to get on top of quickly.

We’re doing our bit towards making every drop count by aiming to fix 95% of all low volume leaks within 7 days.

However, the other 5% of low volume leaks are a little tricker to get to within 7 days. We call these complex low volume leaks, and sometimes, it can take us a few weeks to get them fixed.

This might be because:

  • the leak is in a hard to access place (like the middle of a busy road)
  • to fix the leak, water mains may need to be switched off – to ensure minimal water supply disruption, we need to make sure we pick a good time to do this for our customers
  • the source of the leak is difficult to find.

If you notice a leak that is rapidly getting worse, please call us on 1300 656 007. We appreciate your help.
