Community tours and talks

As part of our commitment to our local community groups, we provide guided tours of key facilities, and and guest speakers.

Tours

We offer guided tours of:

  • West Barwon Reservoir: Geelong’s most important water supply catchment in the foothills of the Otway Ranges.
  • Wurdee Boluc Water Treatment Plant: Geelong’s main water treatment facility, located 30 minutes’ drive from Geelong.
  • Black Rock Water Reclamation Plant: Geelong’s most important wastewater treatment and water recycling plant, located in Connewarre.
  • Upper Stony Creek Reservoir Number 1: the first major reservoir for the Geelong region, opened in 1873.

Other sites may be available for tours on request.

These tours are subject to availability, maximum and minimum numbers apply.

Our guided tours are available for not-for-profit community groups during normal business hours. While these tours are free-of-charge, groups must organise transportation to and from our facilities, and catering (e.g. packed lunches) at their own cost.

Talks

You can request a Barwon Water speaker for your next community meeting.

Find out more about where your water comes from and how we are planning for the future. We’re also happy to share water saving tips, updates on our major projects, and stories about our history, and will tailor every presentation to the interests of your group.
