We take the security of your personal and account information seriously. That’s why we are introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) when you log into your account on our website in 2026.

Introducing an extra layer of security in 2026
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is quick and easy, and helps keep your information safe with an extra layer of security when you log in.
You’re probably already using MFA for things like online shopping and banking accounts. When you log in with your password, you are asked to confirm your identity using a second method—usually a code sent by text message to your phone or email.
This extra step makes sure it’s you when you log in and makes it much harder for someone else to gain unauthorised access, even if they know your password.
Using MFA when you log into your Barwon Water account will work the same way. The first time you log in after MFA begins in 2026, you can choose whether the code will be sent to your email address or by text message to your phone if it is registered with us.
Get ready for multi-factor authentication
You can get ready for MFA now by logging into your account and checking your email address and mobile phone number are up-to-date.
If you haven’t already, register for online access to enjoy a range of services. Once registered, you can sign in by clicking the button on the top right of our homepage.
Introducing MFA is in line with best practice adopted by other Australian government agencies, as well as broader industry standards. It’s part of our commitment to keeping your personal information safe and secure in an increasingly digital world.
We’ve put together some answers to frequently asked questions to help explain what’s changing, why it matters and how to get started. We’ll provide more resources to make the transition easy as we get close to MFA starting in 2026.
