Water restrictions eased to Stage 1

Water restrictions will be eased from Stage 2 to Stage 1 in the greater Geelong region from Sunday 3 October 2010.

Key changes to restrictions include:

  • lawns may now be watered by hand at any time
  • cars may be rinsed with a hose and trigger nozzle
  • all playing surfaces may be watered.

The decision to ease restrictions again follows excellent winter and early spring rain, and a dramatic increase in our water storages.

New water sources including the Anglesea Borefield, and strong community awareness of water conservation made the decision to ease restrictions a certainty.

Geelong's storages are currently at an 8-year high of 69.7%.

Other towns in our service region remain on permanent water saving measures. This includes Colac and surrounds, Lorne, Aireys Inlet, and Apollo Bay.
