The Water Supply Demand Strategy (WSDS) is a 50-year plan which outlines our actions required to manage demand for, and ensure sufficient supplies of, drinking water across our service region.
The Stony Creek reservoirs in the Brisbane Ranges, north of Anakie, are a source of Geelong's drinking water.
The strategy is revisited every 5 years in response to a constantly changing water outlook, and the variable nature of population growth and development.
We must manage our resources to meet residential, agricultural, business and environmental needs well into the future.
Long-term analysis of water supply and demand for the majority of our serviced areas indicates that we are water secure well into the future
Short-term actions outlined in the Water Supply Demand Strategy focus particularly on the Colac region. Analysis indicates a need for an increase in water supply and water efficiency in the Colac system by 2017.
