National Water Week

Each year, National Water Week makes a splash across Australia inspiring individuals, communities and organisations to work together to build community awareness and understanding of water-related issues.

The theme for this year's National Water Week is water: the heart of our culture.

  


 

Poster competition for primary school students

To celebrate National Water Week, we are once again hosting our annual poster competition for primary schools.

Students can create an eye-catching poster depicting the loink between water and culture.

It's a great activity for the classroom or art room.

Great prizes are on on offer for students and their schools.

Entry categories

Entries are invited in four categories:

  • foundation
  • grades 1 and 2
  • grades 3 and 4
  • grades 5 and 6.

 

Theme and entry criteria

The winning posters will be judged on:

  • how well they convey water-related issues
  • how well they promote the theme
  • appearance and use of colour
  • effective use of materials
  • originality.

Posters must be A3 size.

An official entry form must be securely attached to each poster.

One student per artwork please (group artwork is not eligible). 

Any art material can be used including paint, pencils, textas, collage materials, original photographs and original computer graphics.

 

Student prizes

  • Winners in each category will receive a $70 Ofiiceworks gift card.
  • Runners-up in each category will receive a $50 Officeworks gift card.
  • Winners and runners up will also receive their artwork as a custom canvas print and as a jigsaw.

Winning and runner-up posters will be on display in the Barwon Water pavillions at the Geelong and Colac shows.

 

School prizes

  • $500 to the winning school in each category to contrubute towards a sustainability project, water-efficient products or educational materials.

Failure to provide contact details will constitute an invalid entry.

Information contained in entry forms may be retained by Barwon Waterb and/or VicWater. This information may be disclosed to government agencies or stakeholders.
