National Water Week

Each year, National Water Week makes a splash across Australia inspiring individuals, communities and organisations to work together to build community awareness and understanding of water-related issues.

The theme for this year's National Water Week is ‘water for me, water for all’.

  


 

Poster competition for primary school students

Barwon Water is calling for primary students to enter our annual poster competition.

Students are encouraged to make a poster reflecting the value they place on water, how it is used across our communities and/or the importance of water in connecting people.

Great prizes are on on offer for students and their schools.

 

Entry categories

Entries are invited in four categories:

  • prep / foundation
  • years 1 and 2
  • years 3 and 4
  • years 5 and 6.

 

Theme and entry criteria

The winning posters will be judged on:

  • how well they convey water-related issues
  • how well they promote the theme
  • appearance and use of colour
  • effective use of materials
  • originality.

Any medium, including paper, can be used, as long as it is A3 size (landscape orientation preferred).

Any art material can be used, including paint, textas, coloured pencils, collage materials, original photographs and original computer graphics.

An official entry form must be securely attached to each poster.

One student per artwork please (group artwork is not eligible). 

 

Student prizes

Winners in each category will receive a $70 Officeworks gift card.

Runners up in each category will receive a $50 Officeworks gift card.

First, second and third placed posters in each category will be made into a canvas print and jigsaw.

Selected posters will also be on display in the Barwon Water pavillions at the Geelong and Colac shows.

 

School prizes

The winning school of each category is awarded a $500 grant to go towards a sustainability project, purchase of water efficient products or educational materials..

Barwon Water's National Water Week poster competition is held in partnership with VicWater and the Australian Water Association (AWA).

Failure to provide contact details will constitute an invalid entry.

Information contained in entry forms may be retained by Barwon Water and/or VicWater and/or AWA This information may be disclosed to government agencies or stakeholders.

We are committed to protecting information in accordance with the Information Privcy Act. We will never sell contact details to third parties.
