Water fluoridation program rolled out In March 2008, Barwon Water was directed by the Department of Human Services to implement water fluoridation in the Greater Geelong region. Barwon Water is building three fluoridation plants in the Barwon region at its existing Moorabool, Wurdee Boluc and Colac treatment plants. The fluoridation plants at Moorabool and Wurdee Boluc are complete were commissioned beginning 22 June 2009. The fluoridation plant at Colac is scheduled to be switched on in March 2010. Advice to the Colac community will be provided prior to the fluoridation of the water supply taking place there. Certain areas serviced by Barwon Water will not be receving fluoridated water.
